Distraction Burglars Hit Elderly Woman's Home In Norwalk NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk police are investigating a distraction burglary committed against an elderly woman at her Ward Street home by two men claiming to be employees of the power company. The woman was contacted by one of the suspects, who said he needed to check the electric and power service inside her home on Wednesday, police said. The suspect and victim then went into the basement while the other male suspect stole items from the main part of the house, police said. Boy Hit By Car Near School Bus, Say Ramapo Police RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A 7-year-old boy was hit by a motor vehicle on Ellish Parkway on Monday morning, according to officials in the Ramapo Police Department. An investigation revealed that the boy was crossing Ellish Parkway to get on his school bus when he was struck by a the vehicle, police report. The vehicle was operated by a 36-year-old Spring Valley man, according to officials. The man, who had a dashboard camera in the vehicle, permitted the investigating officer to view the film footage of the accident, officials report. Clifton Wrestlers Win Sectional Title CLIFTON, N.J. -- The Clifton High School varsity wrestling team won the North 1, Group 5 sectional championship by defeating Hackensack on Friday, Feb. 12. The Mustangs squeaked out a 41-30 victory to capture the title. The team, which entered as the bracket’s top seed, advanced to the championship by defeating North Bergen in the semifinals following a first-round bye.

Target To Open New Store At Closter Plaza CLOSTER, N.J. -- Target has announced it will open a 45,000-square-foot store in Closter Plaza, a shopping center on Vervalen Street currently undergoing redevelopment. Fuel Assistance Available In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Department of Human Services is reminding residents that applications for fuel assistance are currently being accepted at its office at Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Ave., in room 200. The deadlines are Monday, March 14, for those who heat with oil, and Friday, April 29, for those who heat with gas or electricity. In order to be eligible, a family of two may have an annual gross income of up to $43,327. Asset limits for the state program are $15,000 for homeowners, and $12, 000 for renters.
