Rally Against Oil Trains Scheduled In Bogota
BOGOTA, N.J. -- The Cliffside Park Bogota Coaltion to Ban Unsafe Oil Trains is planning a rally on Sunday, Jan. 24, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The event will be held on East Main St. between Elm and Palisades avenues, on the bridge sidewalks over the CSX railroad tracks. The protesters contend that Bakken crude oil from North Dakota is transported under unsafe conditions. For more information, click here.

Wayne Synagogue Holding Coat Drive
WAYNE, N.J. – Temple Beth Tikvah is collecting new or gently used winter coats, scarves and gloves to give out to those in need. Any size coat from child to adult will be accepted. Coat donations can be placed in the boxes that are located outside Ellen Goldin's office in the religious school. The drive will last until Jan. 28.

Volunteers Wanted For Westport Committees
WESTPORT, Conn. -- First Selectman Jim Marpe and the Parks and Recreation Commission are seeking volunteers to serve on two newly established advisory committees that will assist the Parks and Recreation Department. One of the new advisory groups, the Racquets Advisory Committee, will be comprised of seven members who will serve two-year terms. The committee will advise the Parks and Recreation Department and the Parks and Recreation Commission on matters such as policies and procedures, operation and maintenance and capital improvements pertaining to racquet sports. Bloomingdale Food Pantry Seeking Donations
BLOOMINGDALE, N.J. -- Bloomingdale United Methodist Church is seeking donations for its food pantry. Items currently needed include drink mixes and juices, including regular iced tea and lemonade mixes, macaroni and cheese mixes, spaghetti sauce, dish detergent, bar soap, jams, jellies and cereals. Food items with expired dates cannot be accepted. Those who would like to donate can send an email to bumc65@aol.com to make arrangements.

Middlesex Middle School Students Stand Up For Peers
DARIEN, Conn. -- Middlesex Middle School seventh graders recently took part in the Anti-Defamation League's "Step Up Day," a program designed to teach students to stand up for others. The event was initiated to provide a safe forum for discussing issues such as diversity, prejudice and name-calling. Following a presentation by the ADL, the students participated in activities throughout the day with teachers and mental health professionals, and also viewed the movie "Radio."

West Milford Football Player Named To Super 100 Team
WEST MILFORD, N.J. -- West Milford High School senior Nick Lisa has been named to the New Jersey Football Coaches Association Super 100 Team, which honors 100 of the top high school football players in the state. The Highlanders went 4-6 on the season. Lisa, a defenseman, had 99 tackles.
