The incident stemmed from a harassment call on Country Place in Mohegan Lake on Wednesday, according to officials. An officer was dispatched to the scene, where he attempted to separate the disputants; one of the parties, now identified as Maria Varone, 52, allegedly struck the officer’s arm and pushed past him, police report. At 12:44 p.m., a passing motorist called to report a single vehicle personal injury auto accident on Croton Lake Road, according to police. Officers investigated and found that John R. Former Demarest Football Player Wraps Up Sophomore Year At Notre Dame DEMAREST, N.J. -- Former Northern Valley Regional High School and Demarest football player Andrew Trumbetti finished his sophomore season at Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State. Trumbetti had four tackles in the 44-28 loss to the Buckeyes in Arizona on New Year's Day. For the season, the defensive lineman had 16 total tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown. Trumbetti graduated from Northern Valley in 2014, before enrolling in Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business as a management consulting major.

Weston Church Prepares For Annual Community Christmas Tree Bonfire WESTON, Conn. -- Emmanuel Episcopal Church is preparing for its 11th annual Epiphany Bonfire on Saturday, Jan. 9, at 6 p.m. The non-denominational gathering offers Weston residents the chance to discard their Christmas trees for charity. For a donation of $25, residents can bring a Christmas tree to the church until 5 p.m. on Saturday for the bonfire. For a donation of $35, church volunteers will collect trees from Weston households and bring them to the field north of the church for the event.
