Hyde Park's FDR Library Commemorates Anniversary Of 'Four Freedoms' Speech HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- Today marks the 75th anniversary of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's "Four Freedoms" speech, the State of the Union address in which the president declared that people everywhere should have freedom of speech and religion, and freedom from want and fear. To honor the address, given Jan. 6, 1941, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum have joined forces with the National Archives Motion Picture Preservation Labs to create new enhanced versions of the speech in HD. Ardsley Middle School Student To Appear On Lifetime's 'Child Genius' ARDSLEY, N.Y. -- Arnav Krishna, a fifth grade student at Ardsley Middle School, will be a participant in the second season of Lifetime's competition series, "Child Genius: Battle of the Brightest," premiering Thursday, Jan. 7, at 8 p.m. The competition, which takes place over ten weeks, tests the nation’s brightest young minds on their knowledge of subjects such as math, spelling, geography and current events. The competitors will be vying for a $100,000 grand prize and the title of Child Genius 2016.

Monroe To Begin Curbside Pick-Up Of Christmas Trees MONROE, Conn. -- The Monroe Highway Department will be collecting Christmas trees placed at the curb by 7 a.m. beginning the week of Monday, Jan. 11, and ending on Friday, Jan. 22. Trees should be free of all decorations and should not be bagged. It is not necessary to call for an appointment. Residents may also take Christmas trees to the Garder Road Landfill, 211 Garder Road, on Fridays or Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Disposal of trees is free-of-charge.

Passaic Baseball League Honors Mayor PASSAIC, N.J. -- The Passaic Roberto Clemente Little League recently honored the city's mayor, Alex D. Blanco, with a plaque recognizing his support for the league. "The Roberto Clemente League is a great asset to Passaic City," Blanco said. "Coaches and staff understand the importance of cultivating a successful child with not only education but recreation, as well."
