Project Medicine Drop Available At Allendale, Waldwick Police Departments Bergen County continues to lead the way for New Jersey in the number of "Project Medicine Drop" boxes that allow citizens to dispose of prescription medications anonymously, no questions asked, any time of day. Bergen has 21 locations (see below). The next highest in New Jersey is Ocean County, with 15. Ridgefield Park Library Organizes Free tax Prep For Seniors RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. -- Tax preparers from New Horizon Financial will offer free services for seniors at the Ridgefield Park Library through March and April.Seniors must call the library at 201-641-0689 in advance to schedule an appointment on a Monday or Tuesday morning. Paramus' Visitation Academy Students Participate In Poster Contest PARAMUS, N.J. -- Visitation Academy students participated in a Conservation Poster Contest recently. This year's theme was "We All Need Trees." Students researched the value of trees and discovered how they contribute to the environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife.

Fort Lee Library Presents A Masterwork Conversation On Folk Dances FORT LEE, N.J. -- The Fort Lee Library will hold a seminar a Masterworks Conversation on "The Imagination of The Folk" on Sunday, March 13. The program will include: Hungarian Dances (Brahms), Slavonic Dances (Dvorak), gems by Szymanowski portraying the music he heard in the Tatra mountains in southern Poland, and the rhythms of Stoyanov. Garfield Church Presents 'Way Of The Cross' GARFIELD, N.J. -- Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Garfield will present "Way of the Cross" on Sunday, March 20.Written by Franciscan Father Francis Pompey, the mystery play is a prayerful experience that uses special lighting, music, pantomime actions and an narration to portray the Stations of the Cross. Dumont, New Milford Gas Main Repairs Nearly Complete DUMONT, N.J. -- A massive project to replace gas mains in Bergenfield, Dumont and New Milford is nearly complete, according to NorthJersey.com. The $1.2 billion project began in 2014 and saw 250 miles of old, antiquated cast iron gas main lines replaced with plastic piping. Glen Rock Compost Center Opens Saturdays GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- The Glen Rock Compost Center will now be open on Saturdays, starting on March 12. The center will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. Residents are reminded to have their compost stickers on their vehicles. Landscapers must also have their dump tickets. Teaneck Could Change Waiver Payment Program TEANECK, N.J. -- Teaneck officials are considering a proposal that would reduce the health benefit waiver payout for employees who opt out of the healthcare program, according to NorthJersey.com. Township Manager William Broughton proposed an ordinance that would reduce payouts from $400,000 to approximately $118,000. The waiver program has been under scrutiny since 2014 when an audit revealed it as an area the township needed to take corrective action on, NorthJersey.com reported.
